Lenovo will launch the IdeaPhone K900, the first 5.5-inch smartphone equipped with Intel Atom processor, in the China market at a retail price of CNY3,999 (US$642) in April.
Intel treats the IdeaPhone K900 as the most important product for its advancement in the smartphone market in 2013 and has provided comprehensive support to Lenovo, hoping to acquire a firm share in the China smartphone market, the sources noted.
Although Intel has been offering discounts and marketing support to attract orders from smartphone brand vendors, due to the aggressive competition from ARM-based chipmakers such as Qualcomm and MediaTek, the company may still face difficulties expanding in the smartphone market in 2013.
