Several graphics card vendors have hiked retail prices for products made with DDR3 in the DIY market by 10-15% in order to reflect the increases in DRAM pricing.
Since DDR3 memory prices have recently risen by more than 10%, the sources believe the graphics cards are unlikely to see their prices return to previous levels within the next six months unless GPU makers decide to offer promotions for specific models or launch next-generation products.
Since PC demand is still weak, the sources believe that the price raises should not upset consumers or channel retailers greatly in the short term.
In addition to DRAM and graphics cards, since motherboard ASP are expected to rise in June due to the release of Intel's Haswell platform, the sources believe the PC replacement trend they expected for the second half may have trouble coming true.
