Inotera announced net profits of NT$1.125 billion (US$37.7 million), or NT$0.21 a share, for March 2013. However, the firm will post another quarter of net losses as the monthly profits were unable to offset the combined losses in the prior two months.
Inotera generated revenues of NT$3.44 billion in March 2013, up 35.9% sequentially and 36.7% from a year ago. Revenues for the first quarter amounted to NT$8.63 billion.
Market watchers expect Inotera to swing to quarterly profits in the second quarter of 2013, after 13 straight quarterly losses, buoyed by bullish chip prices.
In addition, Inotera's transition to 30nm process technology will help lower its manufacturing costs, the watchers indicated. Inotera unveiled previously plans to shift a majority of its total wafer starts to the newer node by April.
