Gigabyte Technology has announced consolidated revenues of NT$4.43 billion (US$147.54 million) for March, up 30.3% on month and 8.96% on year, while revenues reached NT$12.4 billion for the first quarter, up 15.9% on year.
The company shipped 1.5-1.65 million motherboards and 330,000-380,000 graphics cards (up 10-15% on month) in March and 4.9-5 million motherboards and 900,000 graphics cards in the first quarter, up 2% and down 1.5% on quarter, respectively.
Currently, the motherboard business contributes about 60-65% of Gigabyte's revenues, the graphics card business 15%, the server/network communication business 10%, and the notebook/handset combined 10%.
For its mobile product lines such as notebooks, ultrabooks and tablets in 2013, Gigabyte will focus mainly on high-end models with the segment to account for 70% of the company's total shipments for the year, according to Vincent Liu, director of Gigabyte's notebook sales department.
Liu expects the company's notebook shipments to reach 230,000 units in 2013 with improvements in both product ASPs and gross margins. He also hopes the division will be able to break even by the end of 2013.
For Computex in June, Gigabyte is set to showcase its latest Haswell-based ultrabooks and notebooks, Liu noted.
