Asustek Computer announced its 6-inch FonePad Note FHD 6 and an upgraded Transformer Pad Infinity at its pre-Computex launch conference on June 3. The company is also set to sell an 8GB version second-generation MeMO in July, priced at US$129 to compete in the 7-inch tablet market.
Asustek is also showcasing its latest Transformer Book Trio that combines notebook, tablet and desktop features in one device. The Fonepad Note FHD 6 features Intel's platform, while the new Transformer Pad Infinity has adopted Nvidia's Tegra 4 and a 10.1-inch display.
Asustek also unveiled a mini desktop, the VivoPC, for digital home entertainment and Zenbook Infinity, using Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and is set to appear in the retail channel after September.
Asustek's second-generation MeMO Pad features an IPS panel with 1280 by 800 resolution, MediaTek quad-core processor, 1.2-megapixel front camera and 5-megapixel rear camera. With the 8GB version's price of only US$129 and 16GB US$149, some market watchers believe that Asustek is trying to get out from Google's shadow and become independent.
