Intel to discontinue some SSD drives

Monday, June 24, 2013

Intel Corp. this week announced that it would discontinue a number of solid-state drive families based on the company’s multi-level call NAND flash memory produced using 25nm process technology. The last product shipment timeframe of such products is late December 13’ – mid-January ‘14. The company warns that it may not meet demand for previous-gen products.

Intel intends to discontinue 313, 320, 520, 525 and 710-series solid-state drives of all capacities. Customers should place last orders on the SSDs in late September – mid-October, 2013. The last product discontinuance shipping dates are December 15, 2013, or January 20, 2014, depending on the model.

Intel will make commercially reasonable efforts to support last time order quantities. However, due to supply limitations, customer orders may be fulfilled by solid-state drives based on Intel NAND flash memory made using 20nm fabrication process. Intel also warns that supply constraints may create situations where Intel is unable to support customer demand on either 25nm or 20nm products.
