Foxconn Electronics' (Hon Hai Precision Industry) display
panel R&D center in Japan, is set to focus on recruiting senior
technology experts retired from Japan-based enterprises as well as young
technicians, who have ambition and talent, according to company
chairman Terry Guo. Guo pointed out that there is lots
of outstanding talent in Japan that has been limited by the country's
environment. Talented individuals are trying to seek opportunities
"outside the box" and Foxconn's R&D center will be a perfect stage
for them to achieve their goals. Some market watchers
believe Foxconn's strategy should be able to earn the company its needed
R&D resources in only a short period of time due to the fact many
of Japan's R&D engineers have been forced to retire early because of
the economy. Since Japan's business culture is unable to satisfy young
local R&D engineers' ambitions, Foxconn's business culture is
expected to strongly attract these individuals. However,
Foxconn's aggressive actions over recruiting R&D engineers in Japan
may trigger Japan-based enterprises to fight back and result an
unpleasant development, which is something Foxconn needs to be aware of,
the market watchers said.
