Nanya report mixed June results

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Nanya Technology has reported decreased revenues for June 2013 while fellow DRAM company Inotera Memories' revenues increased more than 20% on month.

Nanya announced June consolidated sales of NT$4.43 billion (US$147 million), down 3.7% compared to NT$4.6 billion in May. Sales for the first six months of 2013 totaled NT$23.08 billion, up 19.8% from a year ago, however.

Inotera generated revenues of NT$5.15 billion in June 2013, representing growth of 23.9% on month and 57.3% on year.

Nanya said previously that the company will gradually reduce its shipments of commodity DRAM chips rolled out from Inotera until December 2013, as Nanya plans to accelerate its migration to the niche memory market.

Nanya and US-based Micron Technology were each generally obligated to purchase half of Inotera's DRAM output under their prior deal. The new agreement they reached in January 2013 disclosed that Micron will purchase all of Inotera's DRAM output, and its purchase price is market based instead of margin-sharing under the old deal.

Despite changed made in Nanya's joint-venture agreement with Micron, Nanya and other Formosa Plastics Group affiliates jointly hold a more than 30% stake in Inotera.

Nanya and Inotera are scheduled to discuss their second-quarter 2013 results at an upcoming investors meeting on July 23.
