Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology together accounted for 60% of the Motherboard shipments in China estimated to reached 14.5 million units in the first half of 2013.
Biostar, Elitegroup Computer Systems (ECS) and China-based local vendors are all seeing their shipments impacted by the top-two players.
Seeing overall demand suffering from declines, motherboard vendors in China have become more aggressive about competing for market share by offering price cuts and gifts, and even turning their focuses to China's tier-4 to -6 cities.
Asustek shipped about 4.5-4.8 million motherboards in China in the first half, up from 4.4 million units during the same period a year ago. Gigabyte shipped about 4-4.2 million units, up from three million units.
Meanwhile, Taiwan-based Micro-Star International (MSI) shipped 1-1.1 million units in China in the first half, up from 800,000 units a year ago, and ASRock shipped 920,000 units, also up from about 800,000 units.
Biostar shipped 1-1.1 million motherboards in China in the first half, down from 1.3 million units a year ago, and ECS shipped less than 200,000 units. ECS is currently turning its focus to OEM orders.
