Foxconn might use 7-Eleven to market Mobile devices

Tuesday, August 20, 2013

7-Eleven shoppers in Taiwan may eventually be able to buy a smartphone or tablet along with their Slurpee.

Foxconn, known for supplying components to Apple and other tech players, may team up with 7-Eleven to make smartphones and tablets in the future, The Wall Street Journal reported Monday. Both Foxconn and President Chain Store, which operates 7-Eleven stores in Taiwan, announced that they could cooperate on such a venture.

The two companies are already partners at selling TVs.

The Journal reported that Foxconn is making 7-Eleven-branded television sets that sell on the 7-Eleven Web site and at more than 4,800 7-Eleven stores across Taiwan. Buyers can choose from a 40-inch model selling for 12,888 New Taiwan dollars ($430), a 60-inch one selling for $1,333, and a 70-incher that costs $2,336. The TVs are Internet-enabled and offer links to 7-Eleven's online store and Facebook page, the Journal added.

Rolled out in late June, the TVs have already captured unit sales of around 10,000, the Journal reported.
