Gigabyte Technology is expected to ship 5.2 million own-brand motherboards in the third quarter of 2013, historically its highest quarterly level and increasing about 8% on quarter, according to Taiwan-based supply chain makers.
Gigabyte shipped 9.9 million own-brand motherboards in total in the first half of 2013 mainly through expanding its retail network in the China market, the sources indicated.
Gigabyte shipped 1.8 million motherboards in July and is expected to ship 1.8 million units in August and at least 1.6 million units in September, leading to 5.2 million units for the third quarter, the sources detailed.
With shipments of 15.1 million motherboards for the first three quarters, whether Gigabyte can attain 2013 target shipments of 20 million units hinges on the company's sales performance of Haswell-architecture models in the fourth quarter, the sources indicated.
