Intel is expected to announce a new lineup of Haswell processors on September 1.
For desktops, the company will unveil 13 processors including the high-end Core i7-4771, mid-range i5-4440 and i3-4340 and entry-level Pentium G3430, while for notebooks, the CPU giant will release 24 models including Core i7-4610Y, i5-4300Y, Pentium 3560Y and Celeron 2955U, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
For its notebook processor lineup, Intel has separated its processors into several categories including the M-series for the mainstream segment, H-series for the high performance segment, Y- and U-series for the low-power-consumption segment.
In addition to Haswell-based processors, Intel will release four Ivy Bridge-based processors including the Core i5-3340, the sources said.
Since most PC brand vendors and channel retailers still have high Ivy Bridge inventories, Intel is currently taking a conservative attitude about its Haswell shipments and is unlikely to start mass shipping its new Haswell processors until late October.
