Don't miss a second of the Galaxy Gear launch event.
Will it look like the chunky device that appeared in leaked photos last weekend?
Samsung has not confirmed that the images depict the final hardware for the device, which is set to be unveiled at an event today, Sept. 4. Venture Beat notes that Samsung occasionally sends out prototypes that don't mirror the final designs, but the tech site claims the retail model "won't be far off."
The watch will launch just before the opening of the IFA consumer tech trade show in Berlin.
Meanwhile, unconfirmed leaks get under the hood of Samsung's incoming Android smartwatch.
The rumors, based on leaked patents, suggest the smartwach will have a full-color, touch-sensitive 2.5-inch LCD display.
The Galaxy Gear will be powered by a dual-core Samsung Exynos 1.5GHz processor, and run on a tweaked version of Android 4.3. The watch will pair with your smartphone via Bluetooth to push notifications and other information straight to your wrist.
It will boast a built-in microphone, accelerometer, camera and a tiny speaker.
According to another rumor the device will ship in four color options: white, orange, gray and black. A "white gold" option may also be released the following week.
Other reports suggest Samsung is busy testing firmware for the Galaxy Gear, which could compete with a rumored iWatch device from Apple.
The Android-powered smartwatch could also help you shed pounds in a hurry.
New rumors suggest the yet-to-be-revealed device will launch this month with bevy of tools to help users diet and exercise.
The watch sports a wrist-ready camera that could help you log meals into a built-in health diary, Slash Gear reports. It can also use an integrated sensor to measure your heart rate, and combine that data with pedometer and calorie tracking to customize your weight-loss routine.
Another rumor suggests the yet-to-be-unveiled watch's battery will last a measly 10 hours before it needs to be plugged in for a recharge.
That's how long the watch will last with active use, according to the rumor. With more modest use users can stretch its battery to nearly 24 hours, Giga OM reports.
Samsung hasn't confirmed any details about the smartwatch, including its battery life, just yet.
