Wal-Mart, world's largest retailer, has brought down the prices of iPhone 5 and iPad devices ahead of the much-talked about iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C release. With the latest discounts at the store, consumers can purchase a new iPhone 5 16 GB for $98 by signing a new 2-year contract on AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint, effective Friday.
Such attractive discounts are often given by manufacturers, retailers and carriers when a new product is set to make its debut. Several rumors have surfaced over the past months about the release of the new iPhone 5S and a cheaper plastic cased 5C, at an event September 10. Leaked videos show that the new phones will be available in silver, black and gold. It is rumored that the internal storage has been doubled in the upcoming iPhone 5S, which may go up to 128 GB. Apple's new A7 system-on-a-chip based on ARM'S 64-bit ARMv8 is also set to debut in the new iPhone.
But if you are willing to sacrifice your desire to wait for the new iPhone, then it is the right time to grab one of the current iPhones from Wal-Mart stores. The retailer has also slashed the price of its 10-inch iPads by $50, bringing the price of the newest iPad with Retina Display down to $449 and the iPad 2 for $349.
Apple's older-yet-highly popular iPhone 4S has also seen a major discount. While the iPhone 4S goes for sale at $100 with a new contract, Wal-Mart offers the same device for $39, down from $89.
The discounts are also seen on non-Apple products. Samsung Galaxy S4 gets a reasonable discount compared to Apple devices. Wal-Mart is offering a Galaxy S4 smartphone for $138, a $10 discount on the Verizon edition and a $30 on AT&T.
Apple's new trade-in program launched last Friday can get a good value for your older iPhones. With a price cut and trade-in programs, it would be the right time to choose wisely before purchasing a new iPhone.
