Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) has reported record consolidated revenues of NT$55.38 billion (US$1.88 billion) for September 2013. Consolidated sales for the third quarter came within its guidance range of NT$161-164 billion.
TSMC's September sales represented growth of 27.6% on year and 0.5% sequentially. The company collected NT$162.6 billion in third-quarter consolidated revenues, up 4.3% on quarter and also hitting a record level.
TSMC's cumulative 2013 sales increased 20.2% from a year ago to NT$451.22 billion.
Fellow foundry chipmaker United Microelectronics (UMC) has announced consolidated revenues for September 2013 slipped about 11% on month to NT$10.85 billion. Consolidated sales for the third quarter amounted to NT$33.41 billion, representing growth of 4.7% sequentially.
UMC previously guided for a 3-4% sequential shipment increase in the third quarter with flat growth in ASPs. The firm did not provide a revenue estimate.
TSMC and UMC will detail their third-quarter operations and guidance for the fourth quarter at their respective investors meetings on October 17 and October 30.
