CHINESE PHONE MAKER ZTE announced its Blade Q smartphone lineup on Wednesday, as it looks to challenge HTC and Samsung. ZTE's new Android 4.2 Jelly Bean smartphone range comprises the ZTE Blade Q, Blade Q Mini and Blade Q Maxi, with the firm clearly taking tips from HTC's One and Samsung's Galaxy S4 product lines. Unfortunately for ZTE, its latest phones don't quite match rival devices in terms of specifications. The Blade Q, Q Mini and Q Maxi measure 4in, 4.5in and 5in, respectively, and all have a dual-core 1.2GHz Mediatek processor, 1GB of RAM and Google's Android 4.2 Jelly Bean mobile operating system. In fact, despite their varying sizes, you'll find nearly identical specifications across all three smartphones. There's a 5MP camera on each, with the Blade Q and Blade Q Maxi also featuring a VGA front-facing camera, and all three come with 4GB of internal storage, Bluetooth 4.0, HSDPA and 802.11a/b/g/b WiFi connectivity. In terms of battery life, ZTE Blade Q Mini features a 1,500mAh battery, while the Blade Q and Blade Q Maxi have 1,800mAh and 2,000mAh batteries, respectively. While it's unlikely to rival HTC's One smartphone lineup when it comes to specifications, ZTE seems to think price will win consumers over. Although the firm has yet to reveal any availability details for the Blade Q lineup, it said that they will be available at a "great price". GM of the ZTE Handset European Operation Office Ao Wen said, "At ZTE we believe that smartphone technology should be accessible for everyone. The popularity of the Blade series across Europe proves that there is real consumer appetite for high performance smartphones at a great price. "The features available across the Blade handsets redefine 'value for money' in the smartphone market, and we're confident that the ZTE Blade Q range will continue to grow ZTE's position in Europe."
