Acer reportedly has targeted three candidates for its new
chairman: co-founder George Huang, ex-executive vice president Chuang
Jen-chuan (transliterated from Chinese) and iGware founder Wei Yen. The
company is set to select its new chairman at a board election in June
2014, according to sources; however, Acer declined to comment about the
speculation. Acer founder and chairman Stan Shih
previously noted that the company already has candidates for its new
chairman, but will need approval from the board of directors at a
meeting in June 2014. Shih refused to reveal the company's candidates. iGware was a company acquired by Acer in July 2011 and is helping host the Acer Cloud service.
