HTC November revenues meet market expectations

Tuesday, December 3, 2013 Smartphone vendor HTC has reported revenues of NT$15.47 billion (US$522 million) for November, up 3.2% sequentially but down 27.1% on year. The monthly results met market expectations, according to industry watchers. For the first 11 months of 2013, revenues amounted to NT$190.97 billion, decreasing 28.6% from a year earlier. HTC said earlier that it expects its revenues to slide 4.25-14.89% sequentially to NT$40-45 billion in the fourth quarter with a gross margin of 19-20% and an EPS of NT$0.10-1.70. HTC is expected to ship 5.2 million smartphones in the fourth quarter, decreasing 16.2% from the previous quarter, according to data compiled by TrendForce. The main reasons for HTC's shipment decline include its waning market shares in the US and Europe and the fact that it failed to introduce any new products in the fourth quarter other than the One Max, TrendForced added.
