Jolla has announced a "new batch" of its eponymous smartphones will be available online from today. The devices, powered by the beta of Jolla's Sailfish operating system, will cost €399 and should arrive within two to four weeks from the date an order is placed, which should mean a January delivery at the earliest.

There were fears that customers who had ordered the Jolla device during the company's pre-order campaigns earlier this year would also not receive their smartphone by Christmas, but that no longer appears to be the case.

"After solving some technical logistics issues all the shipments to pre-order customers in the EU will be shipped by Christmas," Jolla CEO Tomi Pienimäki said in a statement.

Jolla has said the 4.5-inch display LTE-compatible handsets will work on the 4G networks of operators in six continents; however, it has yet to list which bands it supports.

Jolla's mid-range phone comes with a dual-core processor, 16GB of onboard storage, SD card slot and eight-megapixel rear-facing camera. The device comes with basic apps, while owners can install third-party Android apps from Yandex's app store or a handful of native Sailfish apps. 

The company has also today opened its new site together.jolla.com for users to share which features they want to see in the device.

"We have received a lot of valuable feedback, for example, regarding power management and most wanted features, and we are reacting quickly. We have already released two updates for the OS and are expecting to rapidly improve the capabilities with frequent over the air updates," Pienimäki said.

Jolla hasn't revealed how many devices it's sold so far, only referring to "thousands" that were pre-ordered in Finland.
