Acer has reached more than one million users of its AcerCloud personal cloud computing services, according to company general manager Maverick Shih for BYOC (Build Your Own Cloud) and Tablet Business Group.
Of AcerCloud users, about 8% have used the service on a regular basis, Shih indicated.
Acer has been promoting BYOC to complement its hardware business and enhance the competitiveness of its hardware products, Shih said. Acer's BYOC business consists of two segments, cloud computing services for small- to medium-size businesses operated by its electronic data center and AcerCloud personal services and OEM business for which Acer helps hardware vendors build up cloud computing service platforms, Shih indicated.
