Vietnam to accommodate technology investments

Friday, February 21, 2014

Construction work on the $31 million Vie-Pan Techno Park project in Ho Chi Minh city has commenced on February 17. The technology park covers 13 hectares of land in Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, and is expected to open in October.
Divided into two phases, phase one represents 55 per cent of the Vie-Pan Industrial Park comprising three hectares at $7.6 million. Phase two involves the remaining land area from the Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park Joint Stock Company.

The Techno Park is intended to direct Japanese businesses into Ho Chi Minh. An all-inclusive service will be provided to establish a pleasant environment for the investors.

According to a report, Japanese Deputy Consul General in Ho Chi Minh city Yoshinori Yakabe mentioned during the ground-breaking ceremony that the project is included in Japan's national strategy to back small and medium-sized companies. He confirmed that a total of 690 Japanese firms are investing in the country's southern economic hub in 2014, 70 more than last year.

In the same report, Municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Le Manh Ha announced that the techno park is the earliest programme adopted to attract Japanese businesses in Ho Chi Minh, expecting future industrial and technology park expansions across the city.
