Fujitsu to release 1Mbit FRAM memory

Monday, February 24, 2014

Fujitsu Semiconductor has released a 1Mbit FRAM for applications requiring frequent rewriting of data including real-time data logging for factory-automation, metering and industrial equipment. The MB85RC1MT performs up to 10 trillion read and write cycles, and has the highest memory density among the company's products with an I2C serial interface.

The 1Mbit FRAM operates at voltage from 1.8V to 3.4V, and in a temperature range between -40°C and 85°C. It is a type of memory that features both non-volatility, which allows data to be retained even when the power is switched off, and random access, which enables fast data writing. With a high-speed mode support, it can process data at 3.4MHz, as well as the conventional 1MHz EEPROM operation.

The MB85RC1MT addition extends the line of the company's FRAM products with I2C interface to cover the 4Kbit to 1Mbit range, and those with SPI interface the 16Kbit to 2Mbit range. The FRAM products are offered in 8-pin SOP packages. It is currently available in sample quantities.
