Qualcomm has rolled out a new update for its Toq smartwatch on Monday, with the notable addition of a 'Toq Talk' feature. The new 'Toq Talk' feature gives the users of the Toq smartwatch the ability to create as well as respond to text messages using their voices.
The 'Toq Talk' feature for Qualcomm's Toq smartwatch has been powered by voice-to-text technology from Nuance, which is one of the industry's leading firms in speech recognition and natural language processing.
The simple yet extremely useful 'Toq Talk' feature enables the Toq smartwatch users to text messages without typing. As such, the new feature will essentially facilitate Toq users in creating or responding to text messages when their hands may not be free for typing. The voice-control option for text messaging appears to be a natural approach for smartwatches, especially in the wake of the small screen-size of these devices.
Once the 'Toq Talk' update is complete on the Toq smartwatches, a mic icon will show up to indicate the addition of the new feature. The icon will be positioned between the message and call buttons after the users have read a message. The icon will help the users compose a quick message or send a quick reply.
As of now, the 'Toq Talk' feature is limited only to the text messaging app; and the Toq users are also restricted to only nine seconds of speech input.
