South Korean chipmakers are resetting their dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chip business in 2014, data showed Monday, following the rising demand from smartphones and tablets overwhelming that from traditional personal computers.
Mobile DRAMs took up 34 percent of the global market in the first quarter of 2014, more than the 31 percent in the PC sector, according to DRAMeXchange. DRAMs for servers, consumers, and graphics took up 19 percent, 9 percent, and 7 percent, respectively.
