Order visibility for most Taiwan-based LED driver IC vendors has extended to the end of the third quarter of 2014 thanks to the booming LED lighting market in China, according to industry sources.

Total shipments from Taiwan's LED driver IC vendors to China are likely to double in 2014 from the previous year as more makers have stepped into the low wattage LED driver IC segment, revealed the sources.

In 2013, only two Taiwan-based suppliers, Silergy and On-Bright Electronics, were among the top-10 LED driver IC vendors in China. However, a number of other vendors including Richtek Technology, Macroblock, Global Mixed-mode Technology (GMT), Silicon Touch Technology, Analog Integrations and Leadtrend Technology, have ramped up their shipments significantly in 2014, said the sources.
