IC testing and packaging company ChipMOS Technologies has landed backend orders for 15nm MLC NAND flash chips from Toshiba, with volume production to begin in the third quarter of 2014, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
For the new orders from Toshiba, ChipMOS is expected to ramp up its capex budget for 2014 to NT$3 billion (US$100 million) compared to NT$2.5 billion set previously, the paper quoted the company's spokesman KS Chen as indicating.
ChipMOS posted revenues of NT$1.8 billion for June, down 1.6% sequentially but up 4.7% on year. For the first six months of 2014, revenues totaled NT$10.4 billion, increasing 11.1% from a year earlier, according to company data.
