Many advances in the automotive industry can be traced from co-innovation, or collaborative innovation, within an ecosystem of diverse partners. Through this, vehicle manufacturers and suppliers gets to experiment with new forms of relationships and to explore innovations that ultimately evolve current vehicle technology.

Visteon's collaboration with Renault on the NEXT TWO autonomous driving and hyper-connected vehicle prototype is an example of successful co-innovation. As the system architect and integrator on the project, Visteon delivered a connected cockpit electronics solution, demonstrating how drivers and passengers can interact with autonomous driving features, including driver delegation.

The Renault NEXT TWO is an early development prototype of the manufacturer's autonomous vehicle technology, promising production versions by 2020.

Renault's brief for the NEXT TWO innovation project was to deliver a highly connected vehicle designed to offer drivers and passengers a new user experience, allowing them more time to do other things, such as make phone calls or review work documents. Unique to this project, Renault's main goals were to incorporate autonomous driving modes and hyper-connectivity solutions to the vehicle ecosystem. The Human-Machine Interface (HMI) approach and the creation of new enriched user experiences were identified as the key success factors.
