New HyperRAM to use Spansion's HyperBus interface

Tuesday, October 14, 2014

Spansion and Integrated Silicon Solution Inc (ISSI) are to develop HyperRAM products based on the Spansion HyperBus interface and plan to release the first HyperRAM products in the first half of 2015.
Both companies will have rights to sell HyperRAM.

The 12-pin Spansion HyperBus Interface consists of an 8-pin address/data bus, a differential clock (2 signals), one Chip Select and a Read Data Strobe for the controller.

By combining HyperFlash and HyperRAM components on a single bus, chipset providers can reduce controller pincount, accommodate smaller packages, simplify PCB designs, and potentially replace or reduce DRAM.

Earlier this year, Spansion announced the HyperBus Interface and first product based on the Interface, Spansion HyperFlash NOR memory devices, with read throughput of up to 333MB/s.

ISSI makes specialty DRAM, SRAM, flash and analogue.
