Marvell has rolled out the octa-core 64bit 5-mode 4G LTE ARMADA Mobile PXA1936 SoC intended for high performance smartphones and tablets. The mobile processor features 8x ARM Cortex A53, advanced graphics and security functions, high performance image processing and sensor fusion capabilities, detailed the company.
The PXA1936 is a part of Marvell's 64bit mobile LTE SoC family that also includes the ARMADA mobile PXA1908. The ARMADA mobile PXA1936 maintains complete software compatibility with the PXA1908 SoC, enabling OEMs and ODMs to quickly and seamlessly launch a higher performing octa-core mobile phone. The ARMADA Mobile PXA1936 addresses the following wireless communications: TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA and GSM.
The mobile processor supports up to 1.5GHz clock speed, 1080p display, and video encoding and decoding. It flaunts improved image processor to support 13-16MP cameras; advanced power management and audio codec for power efficiency and audio performance; enhanced security processor; integrated location and sensor hub functionalities for better usability; and field proven DSDS software for 5-mode modem.
The device features Marvell's low-power sensor hub technology delivering unprecedented sensor fusion capabilities. It also paves the way for device makers to release 64bit tablets and smartphones with the Android L OS. The processor will soon be available for the smartphone and tablet market and is expected to ship in devices by early 2015.
