Sanmina Corp. has revealed that its India Design Centre (IDC) has received the ISO 13485:2003 and EN ISO 13485:2012 certifications for medical product design and development. According to the company, these design certifications validate its ability and enable it to push further to provide end to end solutions for medical devices in India, a capability very few global EMS companies have attained.
They are internationally recognised standards that ensure companies produce medical devices that consistently meet government regulations. Compliance with the ISO and EN certifications ensure that more stringent controls and documentation are in place during the design and manufacturing process resulting in greater safety and regulatory control throughout the entire product lifecycle.
"With the growth of the medical device market in India, many global medical companies are now outsourcing in India, taking advantage of government incentives and launching new medical products specifically designed to meet the needs of healthcare in India and other regions," said Sundar Kamath, SVP of corporate technology at Sanmina. "These ISO and EN design certifications enable Sanmina to provide medical companies with complete product development services in India, in addition to the manufacturing solutions we have been providing here for many years."
Sanmina's India Design Centre and manufacturing operations were both established in 2008. Together, these facilities provide complete design and manufacturing services to leading companies in the aerospace, medical, communications networks, enterprise computing, multimedia and smart infrastructure markets. These certifications add to a comprehensive list of industry certifications for Sanmina in India, including ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001:2004, AS 9100, TL 9000, UL and CCC certifications.
