SSD manufacturer Memoright will start shipping eMCP solutions for smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices in the third quarter of 2015, according to company president Alex Kuo.
Memoright will roll out two eMCP products dubbed the M1880L and M1870L, which integrate advanced-node NAND flash memory, LPDDR2/3 and flash device controller ICs, and support JEDEC's eMMC 5.1 standard, Kuo disclosed. The devices also utilize advanced packaging methods and Memoright's in-house developed firmware architecture.
Of Memoright's eMCP solutions, the M1880L series will come with LPDDR3. The series is able to achieve read and write speeds of up to 270MB/s and 65MB/s, respectively.
Memoright's eMCP products have attracted orders from customers in China and Japan, Kuo indicated.
Kuo noted that Memoright is partnering with many memory vendors to secure a steady supply of DRAM chips for its eMCP products.
In addition, Memoright will continue to enhance its SSD portfolio by adding a PCIe 3.0 x2-based M.2 drive dubbed the NF8-920, Kuo said. The new SSD series employs a 15nm process, delivering speeds of up to 1,000MB/s read and 800MB/s write.
Cher Wang, founder of VIA Technologies and HTC, is one of Memoright's major shareholders. Memoright has also drawn investment from Marvell, Micron Technology, and Cal-Comp Electronics and Communications.
