Terry Gou, chairman of Hon Hai/Foxconn Group, said yesterday that the Foxconn scheduled to set up 10 to 12 assembly plants and data centers in India by 2020, expected to invest about US$1 billions.
Terry Gou said it after attending the opening ceremony of Guiyang Big datd Summit in China.
Recently, India's Maharashtra Governor, Shri. Devendra Fadnavis, had traveled to China to visit Foxconn Zhengzhou plant, and meet with Gou. Foxconn Zhengzhou plant is a assembly base of iPhone 6, therefore the conjecture of setting plant in India came out.
Shri. Devendra Fadnavis said at the time, the technology and development level of Foxconn is the key element of “Made in India”which is implemented by the Indian Prime Minister Modi, essential, perfectly go with the industrial upgrading in India. They will make manufacturing become a driving force of India's economic development.
Analysts also believed that, in addition to secure the orders from Apple, setting up factories in India can bring a better understanding of the local Indian consumers and market conditions, it will benefit both Foxconn and Apple.
