Virtual Reality to have some interesting applications from Apple?

Friday, January 29, 2016

Apple CEO Tim Cook this week fueled speculation that the tech giant could enter the virtual reality market during the company's quarterly earnings report.

The Verge reports that Cook — who was responding to a question about virtual reality during the conference call — said that the technology could have broad implications.

"I don't think it's a niche," Cook said. "It's really cool and has some interesting applications."

Other tech companies are already heavily involved in virtual reality, including Facebook-owned Oculus, which is set to ship its virtual reality headset in a matter of weeks.

Apple hasn't made any public forays into virtual reality, although a recent job listing suggested that could change.

The tech giant reported record profits in the latest quarter but indicated that sales of the iPhone slowed. Apple is now forecasting a revenue decline that would be its first in more than 10 years.
