A total investment of CNY4 billion (US$608 million) will be poured into the establishment of a new IC industrial park at the Zhongguancun (Haidian) Science Park in Beijing, according to a report from China's Beijing Business Today.
With IC design at its core, the new industrial park will also cover manufacturing, and packaging and testing sectors, said the report. Establishment of the new IC industrial park is aimed at creating a one-stop supply chain for markets including IoT and smart devices, and is in line with China's aggressive focus on self-sufficiency in the semiconductor industry.
The new IC industrial park in Beijing will station up to 150 companies which will consist of five to eight international IC vendors, with annual output value targeted at CNY30 billion, the report indicated. Construction of the park will begin in 2017 with operations slated to kick off in 2018.
