Telecommunications provider ZTE Corporation (0763) said it gained almost 30 percent in net profit in the first half.
ZTE announced its net profit soared by 29.9 percent from a year ago, to HK$2.29 billion yuan, as the company posted growth in its network infrastructure and mobile devices businesses.
Revenue increased to 54.011 billion yuan, 13.1 percent higher, helped by growth in operations including wireless network, wireline network and bearer network, in addition to handsets, with improvements in gross profit margins.
China Unicom (Hong Kong) (0762), one of the major state-owned telecom firms, said net addition of 4G customers was 5.43 million, a decrease of 3.3 percent from a month before.
The net addition of 4G subscribers was 5.62 million in May. Total 4G subscribers reached 138.81 million in June.
The telecom carrier said in an exchange filing that the net addition of mobile billing subscribers in June was 1.09 million, bringing the aggregate number of mobile billing subscribers to 269.45 million.
The net addition of mobile billing subscribers was 1.05 million in May.
The aggregate number of fixed-line broadband subscribers was 76.92 million last month, while the net addition of fixed-line broadband subscribers was 16,000. The addition figure was 5,1000 in May.
The aggregate number of local access subscribers decreased from 63.85 million in May to 63.29 million in June.
