Even though Foxconn Technology Group passed on Illinois and has chosen Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, Illinois' selling points likely played into the company's decision on a location.
On July 26, Hon Hai Chairman Terry Gou (Šs‘ä–Á), accompanied by U.S. President Donald Trump and other top U.S. officials, announced that the company plans to invest US$10 billion to build an advanced flat panel plant in Wisconsin to roll out 8K ultra high-definition and advanced 5G operations as a foundation for future industrial development.
Tammy Graceffa, 54, the owner of the Hiawatha Bar and Grill just south of the plant's expected location, said the influx of workers and her land's possible purchase could bring her financial gains.
"Where we grew up and were raised will no longer be farm fields". She added more by saying it will turn into concrete and an industry.
Back in mid September Governor Scott Walker signed the Wisconn Valley Special Session Bill into law (also know as the Foxconn Bill), which paved the way for the EMS-giants investment by agreeing to almost United States dollars 3 billion in incentives for the company.
"I think it's going to be really good. It's been dragging a little here in Racine (County)", Michael Rosenbaum, a village trustee in the town of Sturtevant, a few miles from Mount Pleasant, told the Portland Press Herald.
But some landowners said they felt like they didn't have much choice.
Further Rosebaum said that he understands the fact that some landowners those aren't happy with the fact, hopes Foxconn will make sure that they get a fair deal for this.
"It's the Foxconn train".
