HiSilicon is reported to be having its latest Kirin processor – the 980 – in volume production on TSMC’s 7nm process later this quarter.
TSMC’s 7nm process is scheduled to begin volume production in June with Qualcomm, Xilinx and Apple joining HiSilicon as customers.
The Kirin 980 is expected to be first used in the Huawei Mate 20 phone coming out in Q4.
Samsung has finished development of its 7nm process which will be used for its latest Exynos 9820 processor and may also be used for the latest Snapdragon processor – the 855.
However Snapdragon 855 could instead be made on TSMC’s 7nm which is to run Apple’s latest A12 and 13 processors.
