WHILE the iPhone SE 2 didn’t make an appearance at WWDC 2018, Apple fans have had that setback softened by receiving some great news.
Apple fans had been hoping the much-rumoured iPhone SE 2 would finally make an appearance at WWDC 2018 on Monday.
The hugely popular iPhone SE has been due a successor for some time.
The entry-level iPhone launched back in 2016 but the following year Apple opted against their typical yearly update.
Instead of launching an SE successor in 2017, Apple released 32GB and 128GB models of the SE which offered double the amount of previous storage.
Rumours of an iPhone SE 2 launch has been gathering pace in the past few months with tech tipsters predicting a release date in 2018.
It’s claimed that the iPhone SE 2 will retain the same aluminium edges of the original SE handset and come in the same small-sized package.
However, tech tipsters have said the iPhone SE 2 will also boast an iPhone X-style notched display as well as glass backing for wireless charging.
As with all rumours, it’s best to take it with a pinch of salt until official confirmation from Apple.
But the claims, along with renders of what the iPhone SE 2 could look like, has already generated plenty of fan excitement.
While fans didn’t get a look at the iPhone SE 2 at WWDC they have been delivered exciting news about Apple’s alleged iPhone plans for this year.
Well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo has predicted that the tech giant will adopt a "more aggressive" pricing model for their 2018 iPhone range.
In addition to the iPhone SE 2, Apple has also been rumoured to be preparing three iPhones for their annual September event.
These rumoured devices are: an upgraded 5.8inch screen iPhone X, a 6.5inch iPhone X Plus and an entry level iPhone X with a 6.1inch LCD screen.
Kuo predicted that the 6.1inch LCD iPhone will be priced between $600 and $700 while the second get OLED iPhone X will be $800 to $900.
This means the second gen iPhone X, which would feature upgraded internals, could be up to $200 cheaper than its predecessor.
While the LCD iPhone X could cost less than the base iPhone 8 model, which is priced at $699 in the US.
Kuo added the iPhone X Plus would be priced between $900 and $1,000.
He said: “We forecast that Apple will adopt a more aggressive price policy for the following reasons: one - concern over the negative impact of a higher price in a mature smartphone market on selling momentum, two - improved cost structure, which is mainly attributed to assembly yield improvements of end product & 3D sensing and cost reduction of components, and three - increasing users of Face ID benefiting the promotion of the Apple service and ecosystem.”
Kuo added that the iPhone X Plus, the second gen iPhone X and Lthe CD iPhone will be announced at Apple’s September event.
He added that they will all have release dates the same month.
The news comes after Forbes recently said sources told them that the iPhone SE 2 will launch alongside the three iPhone X models in September.
The rumour mill had been split between claims the iPhone SE 2 could have been announced at WWDC 2018 or at the annual September iPhone event this year.
