Taiwan's Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) will send a delegation September 6-17 to the Silicon Valley and Boston seeking to solicit potential investors there to invest in the country's semiconductor, AI, biotech medicine, smart manufacturing and startup platform industries.

The delegation, to be headed by deputy science minister YC Hsu and including representatives of Taiwan's three major science park bureaus, will host one investment solicitation seminar each in San Francisco and Boston, seeking to highlight the advantages of complete tech industry clusters in three major science parks in northern, central and southern Taiwan, in a bid to attract enterprises there to make deployments and investments in Taiwan, according to MOST.

Hsu said that the planned investment solicitation seminars will also see the representatives from the North America Taiwanese Engineering & Science Association, Monte Jade Science & Technology Association, Taiwanese Chambers of Commerce of North America, and Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI).

MOST will also lead a similar delegation to Japan in January 2019 to seek potential investors in Taiwan's tech industries and boost the overall competitiveness of Taiwan's science parks.

Statistics show that the three science parks have posted combined annual revenues of over US$2 trillion (US$65.11 billion) for many years. Revenues for the first half of 2018 surged 8.48% on year to NT$1.25 trillion, and among major industries operating in the parks, semiconductor posted the highest revenues of NT$860.70 billion for the period, rising 15.72% on year, followed by precision machinery with NT$59.9 billion for an annual increase of 15.67%.
