AT&T chief marketer at Warner Division jumped ship

Tuesday, September 4, 2018

Kristen O’Hara, who was chief marketing officer, global media, at what’s now called WarnerMedia, has joined Snap, the company behind the popular Snapchat application, the social messaging company said in an email. She becomes the vice president of U.S. global business solutions at her new employer.

The change comes little more than two months after AT&T pulled of the massive acquisition of Time Warner, which includes media heavyweights such as HBO, Warner Bros. and Turner. Soon after the merger, AT&T's John Stankey said John Martin, the chief executive officer of Turner, would be leaving the company as a result of the merger.

O’Hara had spent more than 15 years at the business and was responsible for leading strategic collaborations that fuel growth for the company and its operating businesses, according to the WarnerMedia website.

Snap said she had been hired and that she would be starting on Sep. 4. She will oversee U.S.-based sales leaders.

With the merger, AT&T, one of the nation’s largest telecommunications providers, made a big push into the relatively unfamiliar world of content creation. The idea behind the tie-up is to better compete with companies such as Netflix and Amazon.com while it assembles a modern advertising business with a more innovative approach to reaching customers.
