Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) has signed letters of intent (LoI) with 23 foreign enterprises for planned investments in Taiwan.
The LoIs were signed as the annual Taiwan Business Alliance Conference on Ocftober 8.MOEA said.
Taiwan has been running an industrial innovation program focusing on its Asia Silicon Valley Development plan, smart machinery, green energy, biotechnology, medical care, national defense, agriculture and circular economy since 2016.
The annual conference targets foreign investors that can provide technologies related to or become supply chain makers for the program, such as those related to AI (artificial intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things) and smart manufacturing, MOEA noted.
Of the 23 foreign enterprises, eight are based in Japan and four in the US, it added.
To improve investment environment and business opportunities in Taiwan to attract foreign investors, MOEA sent a delegation to call on nine target companies in the US in late July 2018, another delegation to call on nine targets in Japan in mid-September and will do so in Europe in late October.
