Cypress Semiconductor Corp. has introduced a trio of automotive connectivity semiconductors in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combination chipsets that allow for simultaneous streaming on multiple devices in infotainment applications.
The chipsets and supporting software serve as application development platforms to connect as many as 10 mobile devices at the same time.
The semiconductors, introduced at CES 2019, which is taking place this week in Las Vegas, are built on Cypress’ real simultaneous dual-band (RSDB) architecture that enables two data streams to run at full throughput simultaneously by integrating two complete Wi-Fi subsystems into a single chip. Wi-Fi 6 enables gigabit-level throughput and improves reliability for content streaming to multiple devices, the company said.
The chipsets are fully automotive qualified with AEC-Q100 grade-three validation.
The CYW89650 2 x 2 plus 2 x 2 Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0 combo chipset delivers 1 Gbps throughput in infotainment systems without audio or video degradation. The CYW89459 2 x 2 Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 combo chipset enables more connected devices to the unit and includes features such as WPA3 security, Wi-Fi Location and Wi-Fi Aware. The CYW89373 1 x 1 Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 combo is designed for mass market vehicles with wireless performance and medium coexistence management for uninterrupted infotainment.
