DRAMeXchange expects larger-than-expected falls in DRAM ASPs in the third and fourth quarters of 2019, citing the impact of trade disputes between the US and China.
DRAM ASPs are forecast to decline 10-15% in the third quarter, and drop further by up to 10% in the fourth quarter, said DRAMeXchange. The price tracker estimated previously an up to 10% price decrease in the third quarter and a 2-5% drop in the fourth.
"As ripples from the US ban continue to spread, Huawei's shipments of smartphone and server products are feared to face heavy obstacles for the next two to three quarters," DRAMeXchange noted. The impact on DRAM prices for the second half of 2019 will be substantial despite the period being the traditional peak season, it continued.
A rebound in DRAM prices may come in 2020, according to DRAMeXchange.
