TSMC has a high revenue month of May

Pure-play foundry Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) saw its May revenues rebound to over NT$80 billion (US$2.55 billion) - the highest monthly levels thus far in 2019.

TSMC has reported consolidated revenues of about NT$80.44 billion for May, up 7.7% sequentially but down 0.7% on year. Revenues for January through May totaled NT$373.84 billion, a decrease of 9.0% compared to the same period in 2018.

Fellow companies United Microelectronics (UMC) and Vanguard International Semiconductor (VIS) also generated sequential revenue increases in May of a slight 1.3% each.

UMC disclosed consolidated revenues of NT$12.24 billion for May 2019, down 6.4% on year, while VIS' consolidated sales slid 4.2% from a year earlier to NT$2.33 billion.

UMC's cumulative 2019 revenues through May totaled NT$56.98 billion, down 9.7% from a year ago, while revenues at VIS increased nearly 5% on year to NT$11.53 billion for the same period.
