Flash memory device controller supplier Phison Electronics has announced its support for Yangtze Memory Technologies' (YMTC) 3D NAND flash memory.
Phison indicated that its complete controller IC offering supports YMTC's 64-layer 3D NAND flash devices. Phison also provides support for the recently-introduced YMTC 128-layer 3D NAND flash chips, the Taiwan-based company noted.
Phison said its partnership with YMTC will start from consumer storage applications, which will then be extended to include high-end device applications including industrial embedded storage and enterprise servers.
YMTC introduced in October 2017 its in-house developed Xtacking chip architecture for the manufacture of 3D NAND flash memory, and kicked off volume production of 64-layer 3D TLC NAND chips starting September 2019. China's state-owned Tsinghua Unigroup holds a controlling stake in YMTC.
Phison is already among YMTC's ecosystem partners that also include Taiwan's Adata Technology and Silicon Motion
