The EPA has granted emergency approval for a coating that American Airlines intends to use on frequently touched surfaces.
According to reports, the disinfectant lasts for up to seven days.
It is said to contain “antiviral properties that continuously kill 99.9% of viruses on surfaces.”
The spray-on coating does not eliminate the need for cleaning, but the SurfaceWise2 product is now the first long-lasting product approved by the EPA for fighting coronavirus.
Right now the approval applies only to Texas, but Applied BioScience, the maker of the product, is pursuing approval in all 50 states.
According to Reuters, the EPA is studying whether SurfaceWise2 could also be used in schools.
