Toy sales jump 21% admit pandemic

Wednesday, October 28, 2020

The maker of iconic games like Monopoly has reported a 21% jump in sales.

Hasbro says Americans stuck at home are looking for things to do.

This has propelled revenue growth in board games, digital games and toys, according to the company.

Rival Mattel has also taken advantage of the unique circumstances of the pandemic, reporting a 28% increase in sales in its recent earnings report.

Industry experts believe that despite a rocky economy, the toys and games industry will score big this holiday season.

The toy industry reportedly grew 16% in the first half of 2020.

Researchers say parents are trying to make it up to kids who have been unable to have birthday parties or play-dates this year.

Despite massive unemployment, forecasters expect holiday sales to be at or above those of 2019.
