Pet food maker Purina has announced it will soon begin construction on a $550 million plant in Williamsburg Township, Ohio.
Parent company Nestle employs around 3,300 people in Ohio, and this will add another 300 jobs.
Plans for the plant, which will produce dry pet food, include robotics and other digital tools, as well as a training center for high tech skill development.
The 1.2 million-square-foot plant was ushered in, in part, by incentives provided by the state.
Ohio offered up $6.8 million in tax incentives to help secure the project.
Cincinnati’s Regional Economic Development Initiative said the project is one of the biggest investments for a new facility in the area in more than five years.
Purina anticipates being fully staffed and operational by 2024.
