SK hynix Inc. has created an integrated DRAM database, called DAM, to store and share information from design to quality control on volatile memory chips used to power from computers to digital electronics.
The world’s No. 2 DRAM maker said Wednesday that it completed the development of DAM, a DRAM chip development database, last week. Like a dam built across a river to stop the flow of the river and collect the water to use for various purposes such as power generation, the DRAM DAM is an integrated database that collects and stores information needed for DRAM product development and quality improvement.
“It is a new information providing system to allow access by any developers for applications to add values,” according to the company.
SK hynix commands 29 percent share of the global DRAM market after Samsung Electronics at 42 percent and relies 80 percent of its revenue from the business.
“Based on the data stored in DAM, we can improve the quality of our new products and find ways to resolve the challenges during the development procedures,” said the company.
SK hynix expects the database system to support developers to share their difficulties and solutions to enhance development efficiency.
