Qualcomm Technologies Inc. and Foxconn Industrial Internet have jointly designed, manufactured, and launched the Gloria AI Edge Box, powered by the Qualcomm Cloud AI 100 inference accelerator. Vietnam-based BKAV Corp. is the first customer to deploy the solution.
“We are excited to work with Foxconn Industrial Internet and support BKAV to accelerate the adoption of intelligent edge applications,” said Keith Kressin, SVP & GM, Computing & Edge Cloud, Qualcomm. “We anticipate broad areas of adoption of Foxconn Industrial Internet’s Gloria platform using our leading performance per watt AI solution, the Qualcomm Cloud AI 100. We expect customer adoption of Gloria to include a variety of environments such as retail centers, warehouses, datacenters, and factories.”
This compact power-optimized system offers 70 trillion operations per second (TOPS) of artificial intelligence computing power with the Cloud AI 100 inference accelerator optimized for edge compute. Deployed with the Snapdragon 865 Mobile Platform, Gloria is designed to support up to 24 FHD cameras for video analytic applications such as traffic analysis, security and smart retail.
“We are pleased to collaborate with Qualcomm Technologies to develop and announce availability of the outstanding Gloria AI Edge Box,” said Dr. Tai-Yu Chou, CTO of Foxconn Industrial Internet (Fii) and President of Fii’s Cloud Enterprise Solution Business Group.
5G Sub-6 and mmWAVE WAN connectivity options are available for various applications and installation fields based on the Snapdragon X55 5G Modem-RF System. Gloria is designed to support the option to utilize 5G, providing an optimal solution for broad-based deployments. Gloria is also designed to support indoor and outdoor high operating temperature environments.
“The Gloria on-premises AI Edge box manufactured by Foxconn Industrial Internet will allow us to demonstrate incredible performance with low power at a competitive price point,” said Nguyen Tu Quang, Chairman and CEO, BKAV. “Gloria will support us to accelerate AI applications in businesses and government, and revolutionize our work with smart cities, smart construction, and agriculture, among other verticals.” Engineering samples of Gloria will be available later this year, and commercial availability is expected in the second quarter of 2022.
